General Terms and Conditions
ROAD TRANSPORT
  • Price and service agreement is based on dimensions, weight, and number of pieces at time of booking.Accessorial Charges (if applicable) – written confirmation of acceptance required before load is delivered.
    1. Tarping (if added after initial commitment) Legal load $75.00, Permitted load $125.00
    2. Additional pick-ups or drops – if not part of original agreement – $60 plus additional mileage
    3. Missed pick – $250 plus mileage related to moving towards agreed upon load
    4. Layovers – $500 per day (legal) and $750 per day (permitted) plus escorts if applicable
    5. Waiting time – Legal loads -> $95/hour, Permitted loads -> $135/hour – loading/offloading time (see below for details)
    6. Dunnage – to be provided by Shipper. If provided by GTI, cost plus 20%
    7. Escorts – Cost plus 15% unless already included in the agreed upon price
    8. Police Escorts – Never part of the agreed upon price – Cost plus 15%.
  • Price and service agreement is based on dimensions, weight and number of pieces at time of quote.
  • The quoted prices are valid for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of quotation, or period agreed upon on the face of the quotation. Company will requote if requested.
  • All quotes are subject to equipment availability, permit approval, and seasonal road restrictions. The Carrier does not guarantee it can move the load(s) within the Customer’s schedule.
  • The quoted price is conditional on site accessibility for our equipment. It is the customer’s responsibility to provide clear access in and out of site, or to get the load to and from our equipment. The Carrier is not responsible for damage to access routes, roads, approaches to the customer site due to the weight of the loaded vehicle and equipment.
  • All orders pursuant to the quotation are subject to credit approval by the company.
  • Fuel surcharge (whether included or extra) is variable and could change at any time.
  • The cost of necessary permits based on dimensions, weight, and number of pieces provided at the time of the quote is included and subject to approval from governing authorities. Notice of a minimum of five (5) business days are required to order permits.
  • If new permits are required due to inaccurate information provided by the customer (weight, dimensions, etc.), additional costs will apply.
  • County permits have not been included, the costs of these permits will be billed at cost plus 20%.
  • Private escort costs have been included based on estimated routing to be confirmed at time of receipt of routing and state/province DOT transportation regulations. Any additional escort costs will be billed accordingly.
  • The cost of road surveys based on dimensions, weight, and number of pieces listed at time of quote is included. Additional costs will apply if new road surveys are required as mandated by all regulating authorities.
  • Cost police escorts are not included and will be charged back at cost + 15%.
  • Utilities and bridge surveys are extra if required, unless expressly stated in the quotation at cost plus 20%.
  • The Carrier will not be held responsible for delays due to any reason beyond our direct control including inclement weather, act of God, detours, route closures, equipment failure or delays due to government authorities.
  • The GTI Group / Carrier is not and will not be party to any penalty clause that the manufacturer or shipper or logistics coordinator may be bound to.
  • Delays occurring during the transportation due to any unforeseen circumstances beyond our direct control or extreme weather conditions including but not limited to rain, sleet, snow or ice that require additional hours of work or equipment may result in change of pricing.
  • The loading and offloading of the trailers is the responsibility of the shipper and the consignee unless otherwise specified.
  • Shipper will be responsible for any blocking or bracing required unless otherwise specifically indicated in the offering.
  • Unless otherwise specified, two (2) hours have been allotted for the loading and offloading of the trailer.
    • Any additional time required will be billed at a rate of $95/hour up to a maximum daily rate of $950 for all loads which are up to 12 feet overall width, 14 feet overall height and total Vehicle gross weight of 80,000 pounds.
    • Any additional time required for all loads which are in excess of 12 feet overall width, 14 feet overall height and total Vehicle Gross Weight of 80,000 pounds will be billed at a rate of $135/hour up to a maximum daily rate of $1,350.
  • For International Shipments that require pre-clearance by Customs, the paperwork must be available in advance to avoid delays at the border. Any delays incurred at the border which are customs related will be billed at the afore mentioned rates with no free time allowance.
  • The receipt of a Purchase Order signifies the acceptance of the quote and the beginning of the permit approval process. In event of cancellation, once the Customer has confirmed the order, the Customer is responsible for all costs incurred on their behalf up to that point.
  • Price does not include customs clearance.
  • The Carrier assumes no responsibility for the operational performance of the cargo being transported.
  • The Carrier will not be held liable for any concealed damage. If the outside of the piece, crate, box cover, etc. is undamaged, then any possible damage inside and concealed was not caused by and is not the responsibility of the Carrier.
  • Cargo must be clean and free of any dirt, soil, oil for border crossing. Any cost and/or time incurred to clean equipment will be invoiced at cost plus 20%.
  • All rates and charges are subject to all applicable government taxes which are extra.
  • Any item not mentioned is NOT INCLUDED.
  • If a dispute should arise, the Laws of Quebec, Canada will be applied unless otherwise agreed to by contract.
  • Accessorial fees apply (as per rates listed on schedule) for services such as tarps, waiting time, layovers, dunnage, etc.
  • Maximum responsibility is $2.00 per pound based on the actual weight of the cargo up to a maximum of $1,000,000 for damaged or lost cargo that is in our direct care, custody & control. The Carrier assumes no responsibility over $2.00 per pound unless a larger value is declared and additional insurance coverage is agreed to before the service has commenced.
  • There is no declared value to the merchandise. Additional insurance can be offered at competitive rates.
  • Customers are responsible for damage or theft of Carrier’s equipment that must be dropped at origin or destination.
AIR IMPORT & EXPORT
  • All rates provided by GTI are subject to availability of space at the time of booking. We include a validity date on every quote and rates will need to be requoted if you are booking after that date.
  • Pick-up rates include one hour free for loading. Any additional waiting time required will be calculated at a rate of $40.00/hour (CAD).
  • Unless otherwise specified, the quoted rate for air import and export does not include custom clearance, duty and taxes at destination. Specific to air import only, quoted rates exclude any charges related to letters of credit, certificate of origin, legalization of documents and couriers.
  • All business undertaken is subject to the current Standard Trading Conditions of the Canadian International Freight Forwarder Association (CIFFA). GTI can provide a copy of these conditions to you upon request.
  • All rates are based on commodity, weights, sizes and number of units provided by the client at time of request and are subject to revision if different at the time of booking.
  • Rates are based on today’s valid tariffs, rules and regulations adhered to by carriers of choice and are subject to change with or without prior notice.
  • The Freight Forwarder assumes no responsibility for the operational performance of the carriers being used.
  • Transport insurance is available upon written request.
OCEAN IMPORT & EXPORT
  • All rates are subject to availability of space and equipment at time of booking. Validity date is stated on every quote and if expired at time of booking, then it is no longer valid and must be requoted.
  • Port and carriers free time allocated for equipment detention will be calculated from date of discharge from local terminal of arrival.
  • Delivery and pick up rates are based on LIVELOAD with one hour free (local) and two hours free (regional), after which extra waiting time is calculated at CAD/USD $95/hour.
  • Unless otherwise specified, the quoted rate excludes custom clearance, duty and taxes at destination.
  • Unless otherwise specified, the quoted rate excludes any charges related to letters of credit, certificate of origin, legalization of documents and couriers.
  • All business undertaken is subject to the current Standard Trading Conditions of the Canadian International Freight Forwarder Association (CIFFA) of which a copy will be provided upon request.
  • All rates are based on commodity, sizes and number of units provided by the client at time of request and subject to revision should they differ at time of booking.
  • Unless otherwise specified, all charges at destination are for account of the consignee/importer.
  • Rates are based on today’s valid tariffs, rules and regulations, carriers of our choice and are subject to change with or without prior notice.
  • On all exports, note that the verified gross mass (VGM) of all loaded containers must be provided by shipper in time to allow submission to the carrier in advance of the VGM cut-off for the booked vessel. Under this regulation, any containers that do not have a verified mass from the shipper will not be loaded. In case that the shipper cannot provide this information, container will need to be weighed and charges will be as per our outlay plus 10%.
  • The Freight Forwarder assumes no responsibility for the operational performance of the carriers being used.
  • Transport Insurance is available upon written request.
